Unloading the Imperial Kamado from the pallet.
(Unloading from the truck can be made easier by not moving the pallet with the Kamado)

Shipping weight: w/pallet
#5 Imperial Kamado 200lbs.
#3 Imperial Kamado 150lbs.

How to  remove the Kamado from the pallet--
(Two persons are required for some of the steps outlined below)

  • Cut and remove the plastic straps which secure the carton box to the pallet. (fig1)

  • Cut the transparent plastic tapes and remove one side/face of the box.

  • Remove the top ply-board and pull out the Kamado & the wagon wheels from the carton box onto the ground.

  • Using the wagon wheels makes for an easy move to your back yard if you choose to do the unpacking later.

Unpacking & Setting-up the Imperial Kamado

(Fig. 2)

  • Cut off the straps that are around the Kamado and open the lid, making sure that both hinges are locked. Then remove and set aside all the loose items (parts & accessories) that are found inside. This is to reduce the total weight for easiest lifting. (Do not disturb the firebox)

  • (The 3 shoes enclosed are not required when you use the wagon wheels. They are useful only when the Kamado is to be completely stationary.)

  • You must remove the bottom carton cushion used for packing (fig. 2). Lifting the Kamado is easier to do with the lid opened and locked even on the wagon wheels, as you can get a nice grip at the edge of the base. (With the lid closed it is hard to get a firm grip even with 2 people working together.)

  • Now replace all the loose parts you previously removed and had set aside (fire ring, grate and grill). If done properly your Kamado should look like figure 3 and is ready for use.

  • When the Imperial Kamado is not in use we recommend the employment of the vinyl cover for protection from the weather. The cooled-off grill is a convenient place to store your accessories.
