Features of SHICHIRIN:

  1. The KEISODO has many air holes and when heated, keeps the heat at a high point Inside of the SHICHIRIN. Because of its characteristic feature, SHICHIRIN create ultra-infrared heat waves when used as cooker.  It is a natural fireproof material.
      

  2. Joint use of SUMI (natural hardwood charcoal) & SHICHIRIN for cooking. The combination will increase ultra-infrared heat wave production. SHICHIRIN performs much better when used together with SUMI. The cooked results will capture the real flavor of food and cook evenly, rendering the results juicy and tender. When broiling foods directly on the grill, alkalized ashes will help neutralize protein acids and other undesirable by-products that destroy flavor.
      

  3. Less charcoal: Although typical Japanese SUMI may be expensive, the SHICHIRIN requires less charcoal in comparison with other heat-losing grills.
      

  4. SHICHIRIN is easy to clean. Also you can save the unspent hot SUMI if you keep them in a KESHITSUBO. (available as a separate accessory). After completely cooled-down, give the ashes to your favorite plants as fertilizer and soil-enhancer.
